Kitui Governor Dr. Julius Malombe has launched the County Comprehensive Data Collection exercise, which will serve as the backbone of informed decision-making to ensure transparency, accountability, and efficiency in service delivery within the county.
In his remarks, the Governor said his administration recognizes data as key to making informed decisions, shaping policy, and ensuring efficient service delivery.
“It is through data that we will identify gaps, unlock new possibilities for better planning, efficient use of resources, targeted service delivery, and equitable development,” he said.
He noted the County Government will gain valuable insights into the needs of Kitui residents, enabling it to tailor services more effectively and efficiently.
“This exercise will gather vital information targeting businesses and urban land parcels and plots in all the villages, wards, and sub-counties in the county for planning development in areas such as improved road networks, enhanced access to water, improved agricultural productivity, ensuring a conducive business environment, street lighting, market development, better healthcare services, solid waste management, and improved educational facilities, among others,” said the Governor.
According to the Governor, the collected data will be analyzed and integrated into County Public Policy to enhance accountability and transparency, build trust and credibility, foster progress and innovation, promote public education and community engagement, and preserve information for future reference.
The county has trained 115 enumerators and deployed village administrators across the region to collect the data. They have taken an oath of secrecy to ensure that the information remains confidential.
According to the CECM for Agriculture and Livestock, who is also the data collection coordinator, the exercise will conclude in 15 days.
