Students of Kalimani Secondary School in Kitui West staged a strike demanding the immediate transfer of their deputy principal. The learners accused the deputy of poor leadership and alleged mistreatment, which they claim has disrupted their learning environment.
The strike began early Wednesday, with students marching to the sub-county education office to present their grievances. Efforts by the school administration to resolve the matter amicably were unsuccessful as the students insisted on their demands.
Local leaders and education officials have since intervened to address the issue, urging the students to return to class as investigations into the complaints are conducted. The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) is yet to comment on the matter.
