Ngilu Calls for Action from Kitui Leaders: “Stop Singing, It’s Time to Work!”

Former Kitui Governor Hon. Charity Ngilu has issued a sharp critique of current Kitui leaders, calling on them to focus on delivering development and tangible results for their constituents. Speaking at a public gathering, Ngilu singled out Kitui Senator Enoch Wambua and Kitui Central MP Makali Mulu, urging them to stop engaging in what she termed as excessive politicking and instead concentrate on meaningful work.

“It’s time to work; stop singing too much,” Ngilu remarked, emphasizing that leaders need to prioritize development. Drawing from her tenure as governor and her years of experience in national politics, Ngilu highlighted her accomplishments and challenged current leaders to emulate her record.

“If these leaders had done what I did when I was in office, Kitui County would be like London today,” Ngilu declared, referencing her efforts to bring development projects to Kitui during her term.

Ngilu, who previously served as Kitui Central MP, further urged leaders to strengthen their lobbying efforts at the national level to secure more resources for Kitui County. She accused some leaders of being hesitant to engage with influential figures in the national government, a move she described as detrimental to the county’s progress.

“Stop behaving like you are afraid of other men at the national level. Bring development from the national government to Kitui, like I did when I was MP for Kitui Central,” Ngilu stated.

Her remarks come at a time when Kitui residents are increasingly calling for improved service delivery and accountability from their leaders. With the county’s potential for growth and development, Ngilu’s comments are expected to spark conversations about leadership and governance in the region.

Senator Wambua and MP Makali Mulu have yet to respond to Ngilu’s remarks. However, the former governor’s bold statements are likely to add heat to Kitui’s political landscape as leaders face growing pressure to deliver on their promises.
