Kitui, January 16, 2025 – The Chief Officer for Decentralized Units in Kitui County, Kitonga Salee, led an inspection tour of the nearly completed Imuumba Police Station in Voo/Kyamatu Ward, Kitui East Sub-County.
Speaking during the visit, Salee announced that the construction of the facility is 99% complete and will soon be operational.
“This facility underscores the County Government’s commitment to enhancing the safety of our communities. It will be instrumental in addressing border insecurity,” he stated.
The Imuumba Police Station is part of a bold initiative by the County Government of Kitui to construct eight police stations in volatile areas along the borders with Tana River and Garissa counties. The initiative aims to address persistent insecurity challenges that have plagued the region.
Once operational, Imuumba Police Station will become the third facility to be completed under this program, following the successful completion of Konakaliti and Mandogoi police stations in Mutha and Ngomeni areas of Kitui South and Mwingi North Sub-Counties, respectively.
Salee was accompanied on the inspection tour by area MCA Zaecheus Syengo, alongside Chief Officers Ketonya Musya (Transport and Bodaboda) and Ferdinand Kathenge (Tourism), as well as other county officials.
The County Government of Kitui has reiterated its commitment to fostering peace and security in border areas, ensuring that communities feel safe and supported in their daily activities.
