A Member of the County Assembly (MCA) from Kitui found himself in an awkward situation after making a self-defeating remark in an attempt to impress his boss the Speaker in absentia – in front of Governor Julius Malombe during a public meeting. However, his efforts backfired as attendees swiftly dismissed his comments, leaving him red-faced telling him to respect the Governor.
The incident, which unfolded in the presence of the governor Malombe, highlighted the dangers of political sycophancy, as the MCA’s words failed to resonate with the audience, drawing sharp criticism instead.
Observers say the episode served as a reminder that blind loyalty can sometimes do more harm than good.
