Kitui South is set for a major economic transformation following the successful securing of the Economic Stimulus Project (ESP) Market for Mutomo Town.
The project, championed by area MP Hon. Dr. Rachael Kaki Nyamai, CBS, is expected to uplift small-scale traders, particularly Mama Mbogas, by providing a modern trading space.The ESP Mutomo Market is part of the government’s broader effort to empower local businesses and enhance economic opportunities in rural areas.
The project will also generate employment, with an estimated 600 skilled and unskilled youths set to benefit from job opportunities during the construction phase.
Hon. Dr. Kaki Nyamai reaffirmed her commitment to improving infrastructure and economic prospects in Kitui South, stating that several other mega projects are in the procurement stage and will soon be open for tendering.
Residents and traders in Mutomo have welcomed the project, expressing optimism that the modern market will enhance business operations, improve hygiene, and attract more customers to the town.With this initiative, Kitui South continues to make strides in economic empowerment, driven by strategic leadership and development-focused policies.
