Kitui South MP, Dr. Racheal Kaki Nyamai, has called for Africa to reduce its dependence on donor funding and focus on self-sufficiency. Speaking in Parliament during national proceedings, Dr. Nyamai emphasized the need for African nations to strengthen local revenue generation and invest in economic growth.
She noted that overreliance on external aid limits the continent’s decision-making power and long-term development. “Africa must harness its resources, promote industrialization, and enhance governance to secure a sustainable future,” she stated.
Her remarks come as leaders push for economic policies that promote self-reliance and reduce financial dependency on foreign donors.
