Aspiring Mwingi West MP Patrick Koki, popularly known as Kuvasila, has come out strongly against Kitui East MP Hon. Nimrod Mbai, criticizing his recent remarks directed at Wiper Party leader and former Vice President Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka.
In a bold statement, Kuvasila questioned Mbai’s moral authority to attack Kalonzo, asserting that true leadership begins with earning respect from one’s own people.
“Hon. Nimrod Mbai, you lack the moral standing to cast stones at Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka. Leadership begins with respect from home,” Kuvasila stated.
The remarks come in the wake of growing political tensions in Kitui County as national and local leaders jostle for influence ahead of the 2027 general elections. Kalonzo, a long-standing political figure in the region, continues to command significant loyalty, especially among the Kamba community. Any perceived attacks on him often trigger fierce backlash from his supporters and allies.
Kuvasila’s statement is being seen as a defense of Kalonzo’s legacy and a subtle reminder of the deep-rooted respect the former VP enjoys across Ukambani.
Political analysts view Kuvasila’s move as both strategic and symbolic, positioning himself as a defender of the region’s political heritage while also appealing to the broader Wiper support base in Mwingi West.
Efforts to reach Hon. Mbai for comment were unsuccessful by the time of publication.
The verbal exchange sets the stage for what could be a heated political season in Kitui, with old alliances being tested and new ones taking shape.
