Ikanga Kyatune MCA Hon. Cyrus Kisavi, popularly known as “Sonko,” has called on leaders across Kitui County to nurture and support young leaders instead of suppressing their potential. Hon. Kisavi made the remarks during a homecoming and thanksgiving ceremony for Hon. Harrison Maluki Mawia, Majority Party Leader and MCA for Migwani Ward, at Mumbuni Primary School grounds.
Speaking at the event, Hon. Kisavi emphasized the importance of empowering young leaders to build a brighter future for the county. Citing the example of Mwingi West MP Hon. Charles Nguna, he noted that when Nguna was first elected a decade ago, he was a relatively young leader. Over time, Nguna has grown to become a prominent voice in the nation.
“I urge the people of Mwingi West to re-elect Hon. Harrison Maluki in 2027,” said Kisavi. “He has demonstrated true leadership qualities and should be mentored for greater responsibilities in the future. Let us focus on building leaders rather than destroying their potential.”
The event, which celebrated Hon. Harrison Maluki’s leadership, drew attendance from a host of leaders, including Kitui Central MP Hon. Dr. Makali Mulu, Mwingi West MP Hon. Charles Nguna, and numerous MCAs from Kitui County.
In his remarks, Hon. Maluki expressed gratitude to the people of Migwani Ward for entrusting him with the mandate to lead. He pledged to continue working diligently to meet their expectations and uplift the community.
Other notable leaders who graced the event included KITUI Speaker hon Kevin Kinengo, Deputy Speaker Hon. Christopher Nzilu (MCA Kyangwithya West), Majority Party Whip Hon. Boniface Mukwate (MCA Kanyangi), Deputy Minority Leader Hon. Jeremiah Musee (MCA Nguni), and several other MCAs from across Kitui County.
Also present were nominated MCAs representing various political parties, such as Hon. Jacinta Mwoni (Wiper), Hon. Frida Maua (UDA), and Hon. Immaculate Wanza (Jubilee), among others.
The event underscored the importance of fostering collaboration and unity among leaders to advance the development of Kitui County. Leaders pledged their support for initiatives aimed at empowering the youth and strengthening grassroots leadership.
Hon. Kisavi’s call to action has resonated with many in the region, sparking discussions on the need to invest in the next generation of leaders to ensure sustainable growth and development for the county.
