Charity Ngilu Claims Credit for Development in Kitui County, Criticizes Senator Enoch Wambua

Former Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu has boldly asserted her role in the establishment of major institutions in Kitui County, claiming that without her leadership, the county would not have institutions like universities, the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC), or teachers’ colleges.

Speaking during the burial of the father of Director Martin Mumo in Kitui West, Ngilu reiterated her legacy in development. She highlighted her role in founding Kitui Teachers College, Kitui Water Institute, and KMTC Syongila, among other projects, adding that they stand as a testament to her commitment to the people of Kitui.

Ngilu took a swipe at Kitui Senator Enoch Wambua, accusing him of failing in leadership and focusing on unproductive activities. “Senator Wambua is good at singing church songs but has failed the test of leadership,” she said, alleging that the senator is pushing for the closure of the Kitui County Textile Centre (KICOTEC), an initiative she spearheaded to provide employment for hundreds of youth.

Ngilu defended KICOTEC, stating that it remains a crucial pillar for youth employment and economic development in Kitui. She challenged leaders to bring meaningful development projects to the county instead of advocating for the closure of existing ones.

Among the notable figures present at the event were Mwingi West politician Patrick Koki Musau, also known as Kuvasila; former Changwithya West MCA Hon. Katumo; Kitui Lands CECM Fredric Kimanga; MCA Shilloh; politician Sammy Muisyo; and Kitui West MP Edith Nyenze.
