Key agricultural stakeholders convened today in Kitui town for this year’s County Agriculture Sector Steering Committee (CASSCOM) meeting. The event aimed to align sector activities with county development objectives and foster coordinated efforts among partners in agriculture and livestock development.
The meeting brought together various stalkholders and organizations, including Hand in Hand Eastern Africa, IFNUS, Biovision Africa Trust, Farm Input Promotions Africa (FIPS-Africa), and the Cereal Growers Association (CGA), among others.
Speaking during the meeting Kitui County Executive for Agriculture and Livestock, Dr. Stephen Mbaya Kimwele, emphasized the importance of synergy and strategic collaboration in optimizing resource utilization and delivering impactful agricultural outcomes.
“This forum is critical in ensuring that all stakeholders are working towards a unified vision for agricultural development” he said.
Key deliberations centered around coordination of sectoral activities, implementation of the Agriculture and Livestock Strategic Plan and preparations for the upcoming World Food Day celebrations.
The meeting also saw representatives from the various development partners making presentations on their ongoing initiatives, areas of support, and how their interventions align with the county’s Integrated Development Plan.
It reaffirmed the value of inclusive engagement in shaping a sustainable agricultural future as Kitui continues to champion collaborative development.
