Cabinet Secretary for Labour and Social Protection, Hon. Dr. Alfred Mutua, on Tuesday hosted Kitui County Assembly Speaker Hon. Kevin Katisya Kinengo and his Machakos counterpart, Hon. Anne Kiusya, at his NSSF offices in Nairobi.
The high-level meeting focused on key development priorities and examined the implementation of upcoming National Government programs and projects in Kitui County. The leaders emphasized the need for collaboration between the national and county governments to ensure that projects meet the needs of local communities and drive regional growth.
“We had a productive discussion on how we can fast-track transformative initiatives in Kitui and the wider Ukambani region,” said Dr. Mutua, adding, “Our people deserve development that is tangible and sustainable.”
Following the meeting, the delegation proceeded to State House where they held talks with President William Ruto. The discussions centred on the President’s anticipated visit to the Ukambani region, with leaders expressing optimism that the tour would unlock new opportunities and accelerate development.
“This engagement underscores our commitment to unity of purpose in pushing for the region’s prosperity,” said Hon. Kevin Kinengo.
President Ruto assured the leaders of the government’s commitment to equitable development across all regions, reaffirming that Ukambani remains a priority in his administration’s Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA).
