Deputy President Kithure Kindiki today led the Kitui Rural Constituency Economic Empowerment Engagement for Women and Youth SACCOs, held at Kanyangi Grounds, in Kitui Rural Constituency, Kitui County.
The high-level event saw over 80 community groups benefit from government empowerment initiatives targeting youth and women, as part of broader efforts to enhance grassroots economic development across the region.
Speaking during the forum, DP Kindiki strongly condemned recent acts of violence, including the destruction of property and torching of police stations witnessed during the recent Gen Z protests. He criticized opposition leaders for allegedly inciting the youth into lawlessness and warned that no one is above the law.
“Those who are fuelling chaos and misleading our youth should know that the government will not tolerate lawlessness. We must protect life, property, and national unity,” he said.
The Deputy President was accompanied by a powerful delegation that included National Assembly Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah, Kitui South MP Dr. Rachael Kaki Nyamai, Kibwezi West MP Mwengi Mutuse, Mwala MP Vincent Kawaya, Masinga MP Joshua Mwalyo, Principal Secretary Jonathan Mueke, State House Director of Coordination Boni Musambi, Kitui County Assembly Speaker Kevin Kinengo, and a host of MCAs from across the county.
The engagement is part of the Kenya Kwanza administration’s ongoing efforts to support community-based economic transformation through SACCOs and cooperative societies, especially in arid and semi-arid areas like Kitui.
The leaders reaffirmed the government’s commitment to grassroots empowerment and peaceful coexistence, urging residents to focus on development and reject incitement.
