Dr. Augustus Kyalo Muli Rallies Support as NLP Concludes Massive Registration Drive in Kitui

The political tempo in Kitui County and the wider Lower Eastern region has surged following a powerful address by National Liberal Party (NLP) Leader Dr. Augustus Kyalo Muli, during a high-stakes meeting held today at the party’s county offices.

The event, attended by top NLP county officials and hundreds of energized supporters, came on the heels of a successful month-long membership registration drive across Kitui and neighboring counties. According to party insiders, thousands have signed up, signaling a rising political tide for the emerging party.

Speaking to the press after the meeting, Dr. Muli struck a bold and unapologetic tone, decrying the historical marginalization of the Kamba community in national politics. “The Kamba nation has been short-changed for too long. Despite our numbers and loyalty, we have no Cabinet position from Kitui County. That ends today. We’re not begging anymore — we’re organizing,” he declared.

Dr. Muli announced that NLP is in advanced talks with at least 12 other political outfits from the Lower Eastern region to form a powerful coalition ahead of the 2027 general elections. The goal, he emphasized, is to consolidate the region’s voice and secure tangible representation in government.

In a move likely to shake the traditional political landscape, the Kitui NLP Executive unveiled plans to field candidates for all elective positions, including the presidency. “We are not just participating in 2027. We are positioning ourselves for a takeover,” one official boldly stated.

The NLP leader also confirmed that the registration campaign will now roll out nationally, as the party sets its sights on becoming a formidable force on the national stage.

Economic empowerment and regional equity featured prominently in Dr. Muli’s speech. “We will champion financial freedom for our people. Come 2027, the Kamba community must not be left in the cold again while playing opposition politics,” he said.

Today’s developments come just days after a Channel 15 Digital News poll named Dr. Muli as the leading contender to succeed Kitui Central MP Dr. Makali Mulu — a poll that has ignited speculation about his next political move.

As the National Liberal Party drums get louder, all signs point to a rising force determined to rewrite the political script in Lower Eastern Kenya and beyond.
