Kitui East former MP aspirant, Hon. Militonic Kitute, has launched a scathing attack on the current MP, Nimrod Mbai, accusing him of failing to deliver on development despite receiving substantial Constituency Development Fund (CDF) allocations.
In a statement shared on his social media, Kitute claimed that Kitui East had received more CDF allocations than Kitui Central and an equal amount to Kiharu constituency, yet there was little to show in terms of tangible projects.
“For the last three financial years, Kitui East constituency has received more CDF allocations than Kitui Central and the same amount as Ndindi Nyoro’s Kiharu constituency. Fellow Kitui East residents, it is time we stop entertaining mediocrity and demand accountability for our taxes,” Kitute wrote.
He challenged MP Mbai to account for the KSh 524,504,127 million received since the 2022/2023 financial year, questioning why other constituencies like Kiharu and Kitui Central had visible development projects while Kitui East lagged behind.
“Kiharu and Kitui Central residents have received bursaries, they have better roads, their children study in better schools and are fed in school. Yet in Kitui East, it’s just tales despite getting the lion’s share of CDF,” he stated.
Kitute further accused Mbai of hiding behind claims of marginalization while allegedly failing to utilize resources effectively.
“Nimrod Mbai has been lamenting about marginalization for the longest time. Can he show what projects he has done? Let’s stop accepting lame excuses for the lack of development,” he added.
The remarks have stirred political discussions in Kitui East, with residents keenly watching how MP Mbai will respond to the allegations.
