Excitement and competitive spirit filled the air in Kitui South as hundreds gathered to witness a volleyball tournament sponsored by Gladys Mami Kivoto, the Chief Officer for Agriculture in the Kitui County Government.
The tournament, which brought together teams from across the region, showcased both male and female talent in a series of high-energy matches that kept fans on the edge of their seats.
MEN’S CATEGORY:
The semi-final round saw Mwangeni FC outclass Kyuasini FC with a clean 2-0 win, while Mutomo Boys narrowly edged past Mathima FC with a 2-1 victory. This set the stage for a thrilling men’s final between Mutomo Boys and Mwangeni FC.
WOMEN’S CATEGORY:
The women’s semi-finals were equally intense. Mutomo Club and Queen A played to a goalless draw, while Kyatune Club defeated Queen B with a 2-0 win. In the final, Queen A emerged victorious with a 2-0 triumph over Kyatune Club, clinching the women’s title in style.
The volley ball tournament was lauded for promoting youth engagement, sportsmanship, and unity in the community. Speaking at the finals, Gladys Mami Kivoto reaffirmed her commitment to supporting youth development through sports and community-driven initiatives.
“This tournament is not just about football; it’s about bringing our communities together, identifying talent, and encouraging positive engagement among the youth,” she said.
The event concluded with prize presentations and a celebration of the players’ efforts, thanks to the generous support of Gladys Mami Kivoto.
