Gov Julius Malombe, Mp RACHEAL Nyamai, Sen Wambua, Irene Kasalu Lead Condolences at Mass for Six Schoolchildren Killed in Tragic Road Accident

On Friday 20th, September 2024- Kitui Governor Dr. Julius Malombe (EGH) extended heartfelt condolences to the families of six schoolchildren who tragically lost their lives in a road accident last week.

Speaking during a solemn mass held at Kyoani playground, Governor Malombe expressed deep sorrow over the loss and urged the Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) to implement enhanced road safety measures to prevent similar tragedies in the future. He also called on drivers to exercise increased caution on the roads.Kitui South MP Rachael Nyamai Nyamai thanked president William Ruto for supporting the grieving families with one Million shilling and called on drivers to exercise caution while on the busy road.

The Mp called on KENha to erect bumps along the road, the Area Mp also thanked Kitui Governor Dr Julius Makau Malombe for supporting the grieving families with the necessary support.The emotional ceremony, attended by thousands of mourners, was marked by grief and a call for action to improve road safety.

Other prominent leaders present included Kitui County Commissioner Kipchumba Rutto, Senator Kiio Wambua, MPs Dr. and Dr. Irene Kasalu, as well as former Cabinet Secretary for Tourism Peninah Malonza, representing the Cabinet Secretary for Education.Senior county officials, clergy members, and local leaders were also in attendance.Governor Malombe highlighted the devastating impact of the accident on the affected families and the wider Kitui community, emphasizing the need for urgent measures to prevent future road accidents. “This is a tragic loss not only for the families but for the entire community. We must work together to ensure such an incident does not happen again,” he said.

The mass, held in honor of the departed souls, united the community in grief and reflection, with religious leaders offering prayers for the families and urging for stronger road safety enforcement across the region.
