Governor Julius Malombe has reiterated his administration’s dedication to advancing policies that promote the well-being of women and girls across Kitui County.Speaking at Miambani in Kitui Central during this year’s International Women’s Day celebrations, Governor Malombe emphasized that true empowerment begins with access to education, healthcare, and economic opportunities. He outlined key initiatives his government is implementing to uplift women and girls in the county.Among the highlighted programs are strengthening women’s leadership and decision-making, improving access to clean water, enhancing employment opportunities, empowering women entrepreneurs through the AGPO initiative, supporting women farmers with climate-smart agriculture, empowering persons with disabilities, improving maternal and newborn healthcare, and addressing gender-based violence through the establishment of a GBV rescue center at Ikutha Level 4 Hospital.The governor encouraged young girls to dream big and work hard, urging women to support each other and take up leadership roles in all spheres of life.This year’s celebrations were held under the theme “For ALL Women and Girls: Rights. Equality.”Several leaders attended the event, including Area MCA and Assembly Minority Leader Alex Nganga, Kitui County Assembly Majority Leader Munyoki Mwinzi, and other members of the county assembly. A section of the county cabinet and development partners were also present.The County Government of Kitui remains committed to promoting gender equality and ensuring the inclusion of women in leadership, economic development, and social empowerment.
