Kitui Governor H.E. Dr. Julius Makau Malombe and Yatta/Kwavonza MCA Hon. Mark Ndingo joined hundreds of worshippers for the official opening and dedication of the newly constructed St. Andrews Catholic Parish in Kwavonza.
The magnificent church, which cost Ksh 32 million to build, was officially declared open by Bishop Joseph Mwongela of the Catholic Diocese of Kitui, who praised it as one of the most outstanding cathedrals in East and Central Africa.
“This is not just a church; it is a spiritual landmark and a symbol of faith and unity for the people of Kwavonza and Kitui at large,” Bishop Mwongela said.
Governor Malombe commended the parishioners and local leadership for their efforts in completing the project, emphasizing the role of the church in fostering morality, peace, and development.
MCA Mark Ndingo, a key leader in the region, also lauded the achievement, noting that the new church would serve as a center of hope and spiritual growth for generations.
The event was marked with prayer, song, and celebration, as the community came together to witness a historic milestone in Kwavonza’s religious and cultural life.
