Kitui, May 23, 2024 – In a significant move towards healthcare autonomy, Governor Dr. Julius Malombe today commissioned the Kitui County Transition Roadmap to a Sustainable HIV/TB Program 2023-2027.

The high-profile event took place at the Governor’s office parking lot at the county headquarters and was attended by a distinguished delegation from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and various implementing partners in the HIV and TB sectors led by Dr Jenifer.

The transition marks a pivotal step in ensuring the long-term sustainability and effectiveness of HIV and TB healthcare services in Kitui County.

Governor Malombe, accompanied by Deputy Governor Wambua Kanani, emphasized the county’s commitment to healthcare independence and the critical importance of local ownership in addressing public health challenges. “This roadmap is a testament to our resolve to take charge of our health systems and ensure that the fight against HIV and TB is sustained through locally driven efforts,” stated Governor Malombe.
