Kenyan football received a major boost yesterday evening as Hon. Charles Nguna, Patron of Nguna Cup, joined PS Dr. Raymond Omollo, Patron of Kenya Police FC, for a prestigious Gala Dinner at The Nairobi Serena Hotel.
The event brought together players, coaches, club officials, fans, and stakeholders in a united show of support for Kenya Police FC’s vision and commitment to the growth of football in the country. The evening was not just a celebration of the club’s remarkable journey but also a recognition of the immense talent and dedication that continues to shape Kenyan football.
Among the standout figures of the night was Mwingi West’s wonder kid Erik Zakayo, popularly known as Di Maria, a rising star and product of the Nguna Cup, who now plays for Kenya Police FC. His presence highlighted the critical role grassroots football tournaments play in nurturing young talent for national and professional leagues.
Speaking at the event, Hon. Charles Nguna emphasized the importance of investing in youth sports and strengthening football structures at the grassroots level. “Football is a unifying force, and platforms like Nguna Cup serve as the foundation for discovering and developing future stars. Seeing a talent like Erik Zakayo rise from our tournament to play for Kenya Police FC is a testament to the success of such initiatives,” he said.
PS Dr. Raymond Omollo echoed similar sentiments, praising the dedication of the club and reaffirming support for Kenya Police FC’s continued growth. “Football has the power to transform lives, and as stakeholders, we are committed to ensuring that the club remains a competitive force while also nurturing young talents for the future of Kenyan football,” he stated.
The Gala Dinner underscored the club’s vision and mission while fostering stronger collaboration between various football stakeholders. As Kenya Police FC continues to make strides in local and national competitions, events like these reaffirm the club’s commitment to excellence, talent development, and the overall growth of Kenyan football.
