Yatta Kwa Vonza Member of County Assembly, Hon. Mark Ndingo, is winning widespread praise from residents for his close collaboration with Kitui Governor Dr. Julius Malombe—partnership that has ushered in a wave of development projects transforming the ward.
Locals have lauded Hon. Ndingo for his proactive leadership and alignment with the county’s strategic agenda, positioning Yatta Kwa Vonza among the most developed wards in Kitui County. From infrastructure to agriculture, the area is experiencing notable growth, with many touting it as a potential model ward.
Among the key milestones is the planned establishment of the Kitui Livestock Training Institute (KLTI) and a modern Feedlot—a joint venture between the Kitui County Government and the National Government’s State Department of Livestock Development.
The proposed KLTI will be located directly opposite the AP Border Patrol Training College in Kanyonyoo, while the Feedlot will sit within the B2 Yatta Ranching Cooperative Society. These initiatives are designed to boost food security, promote value addition in livestock, and empower pastoralist communities.
The projects were officially unveiled during a stakeholders’ forum in Mwingi, led by County Agriculture Minister Dr. Stephen Mbaya Kimwele. The institute will offer training in animal health, livestock processing, and related fields—geared toward youth empowerment and sustainable livelihoods.
Dr. Mbaya was joined by Trade CECM Rose Mutuku, Lands CECM Frederick Kimanga, Chief Officers Jonathan Kyambi (Livestock) and Paul Munyi (Cooperatives), and officials from the State Department of Livestock.
Yatta Kwa Vonza also proudly hosts the Kanyonyoo Irrigation Centre, reinforcing the ward’s growing status as a hub for agricultural innovation and resilience in Kitui.
As the projects gain momentum, residents remain optimistic that with continued collaboration between Hon. Ndingo, Governor Malombe, and the National Government, Yatta Kwa Vonza will indeed become a model for rural transformation across the county.
