Yatta Kwa Vonza Member of the Kitui County Assembly, Hon. Mark Ndingo, this afternoon presided over a site handover ceremony for the solarization of the Muvitha borehole.
The project aims to install a solar-powered pumping system, a move that is expected to significantly lower the high operational costs that have historically hampered the consistent supply of water to the local community.
Speaking during the event, Hon. Ndingo emphasized the importance of sustainable solutions to water challenges in the area, noting that the new system would ensure reliable and affordable water access for residents.
“The high cost of diesel and electricity has for long affected the operations of this borehole, leading to frequent shortages. With solar energy, we are not only cutting costs but also promoting environmental conservation,” he said.
Community members who attended the ceremony welcomed the initiative, expressing optimism that the solarization project would bring lasting relief to the area’s persistent water issues.
The project, which will commence immediately, is expected to be completed in the coming weeks.
