Former State House Chief of Staff, Mr. Nzioka Waita, has launched the Masaku Mbee movement, a political initiative aimed at transforming Machakos County’s governance and leadership ahead of the 2027 elections.
The movement, whose slogan translates to “Machakos Forward”, seeks to promote good governance, youth empowerment, improved healthcare, job creation, and better infrastructure. Speaking during the launch, Waita emphasized that Machakos needs a leadership that prioritizes service delivery over politics.
“Masaku Mbee is about putting the people first. It is about ensuring that every resident of Machakos benefits from efficient governance, quality healthcare, job opportunities, and infrastructure that truly serves them,” said part of the statement.
His move comes at a time when incumbent Governor Wavinya Ndeti faces mounting criticism over her administration’s performance. Sources within the county suggest that many residents are growing impatient with her leadership, with some accusing her of failing to meet the expectations set during her campaign.
Political analysts believe that Nzioka Waita, who unsuccessfully contested for the Machakos gubernatorial seat in 2022, could be a formidable challenger in 2027, particularly if Masaku Mbee gains strong grassroots support.
As the 2027 race begins to take shape, the battle for Machakos is expected to be intense, with Masaku Mbee positioning itself as a force for change. Whether Waita can unseat Wavinya remains to be seen, but his entry into the race signals a political showdown that will keep Machakos residents watching closely.
