Opposition leader Hon. Kalonzo Musyoka has come out strongly against the current administration, dismissing any possibility of collaboration and calling for national mourning to honour the slain youth during recent protests.
“I want to make it clear: I will never work with this blood-based regime,” Kalonzo stated firmly. “Let no one be misled by those peddling falsehoods and attempting to use my name to sanitize injustice.” he wrote on his social media pages.
In a passionate address, the Wiper Party leader declared June 25th, 2025, a public holiday of conscience, urging all Kenyans to observe it as a solemn day of remembrance for the young lives lost.
“This day will be dedicated to our fallen Gen Z heroes. We shall lay flowers along Parliament Road, light candles, and remember them with the dignity they deserve,” he said.
He further appealed to all citizens, regardless of political affiliation, to show solidarity with the victims and their families:
“We urge all Kenyans to honour our children and come with a rose, and a candle. Their blood and sacrifice must not go in vain.”
The declaration follows nationwide outrage and mourning after a number of youths lost their lives during anti-government demonstrations, which were sparked by economic grievances and demands for transparency.
Civil society groups, student unions, religious leaders, and political figures have since joined calls for justice and accountability.
Security agencies are yet to issue an official response on whether gatherings on June 25th will be permitted.
