Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka does not need the endorsement of former President Uhuru Kenyatta to defeat President William Ruto in the 2027 general election, businessman and political commentator Campbell Munyambu has said.
Speaking to journalists in Mwingi town, Kitui County, on Tuesday, Munyambu — who is also the coordinator of the larger Mwingi professionals and business community — dismissed recent media reports suggesting Kalonzo was politically stranded and in need of Uhuru’s backing.
“There should be no illusions. Kalonzo only needs the votes of Kenyans to win the presidency,” Munyambu stated. “Uhuru has a constitutional right to support any candidate of his choice, but his endorsement is not a guarantee of victory.”
Munyambu acknowledged Uhuru’s performance as a former head of state but maintained that Kalonzo’s political destiny was not tied to the former president’s support.
“Uhuru was a good president and did his best. However, Kalonzo has the backing of Kenyans, and that’s what matters most,” he added.
The businessman said it was becoming increasingly clear among Kenyans that Kalonzo is the most suitable candidate to lead the country in 2027.
“He is the right man for the job. The re-emergence of other figures like Matiang’i does not change that fact,” Munyambu said.
He emphasized that what Kalonzo needs is a clear, well-structured campaign strategy aimed at winning the hearts of the electorate — not endorsements from individual leaders.

According to Munyambu, Kalonzo has the leadership acumen needed to revive Kenya’s ailing economy, fix the health and education sectors, and rescue citizens from the burden of high taxes.
He further urged the emerging opposition coalition to rally behind Kalonzo as their presidential flagbearer, citing his experience, honesty, and patriotism.
“Kalonzo is a man of integrity. He has served both in government and the opposition with distinction,” Munyambu noted. “He understands what ails the nation and is best placed to offer solutions.”
