Kitui Central parliamentary aspirant Chris Ileli has come out strongly against the ongoing political empowerment forums, terming them as “political theatrics” that fail to address the real challenges facing Kenyans, especially the worsening economic situation.
Speaking during a burial ceremony in Kitui Central, Ileli expressed concern over the growing trend of leaders using public forums for political showmanship rather than delivering tangible solutions to the people. He called on religious leaders to rise above politics and instead lead the nation in prayer during these difficult times.
“The country is bleeding. These so-called empowerment forums are nothing but PR stunts. What our people need are jobs, lower living costs, and sustainable development, not tokenism,” Ileli said.
The outspoken leader, who has declared his bid for the Kitui Central parliamentary seat in 2027, noted that current MP Makali Mulu has served for 13 years and should now focus on his next political ambition. According to Ileli, Mulu is expected to vie for the Kitui gubernatorial seat in the upcoming general election.
“As Makali Mulu eyes the governor’s seat, I am ready to take over the mantle and bring fresh, transformative leadership to Kitui Central,” he stated.
Ileli’s remarks are likely to stir debate as the race to succeed Makali Mulu begins to take shape.
