The Kitui County Assembly has this afternoon unanimously approved a motion reconstituting the County Assembly Committee on Appointments, in accordance with Standing Order No. 184.
The newly constituted committee will be chaired by the Speaker, Hon. Kevin Kinengo Katisya, and comprises the following members:
- Hon. Harrison Maluki Mawia – Leader of Majority Party
- Hon. Alex Mutambu Nganga – Leader of Minority Party
- Hon. Hussein Mwandia – Member
- Hon. Priscilla Martha Makumi – Member
- Hon. Judith Kasyoka Wanza – Member
The motion was moved by Hon. Benard Mwangagi (Mwingi Central) and seconded by Hon. Alphonce Mukwayu (Kyome Thaana), during a plenary sitting held at the County Assembly Chambers.
The Committee on Appointments plays a critical role in vetting and approving key appointments by the County Executive, and its reconstitution comes at a time of heightened legislative activity within the Assembly.
In the same sitting, a notice of motion was tabled regarding the adoption of the report by the County Budget and Appropriations Committee on the Kitui County Budget Estimates for the 2025/2026 Financial Year.
The House is expected to debate and consider the report tomorrow, Wednesday, June 25th, 2025, marking a key step in the approval of the county’s development and expenditure plans.
