Kitui County Begins Construction of Modern Police Station in Katumba to Enhance Border Security

Katumba, Kitui County, June 12, 2024 – The County Government of Kitui has initiated the construction of a modern police station in Katumba, located in Nguni Ward, Mwingi Central Sub-County. This project marks a significant step in Governor Dr. Julius Malombe’s comprehensive plan to bolster security along the insecurity-prone Kitui-Tana River border area.

The initiative, part of a broader strategy to establish eight police stations in the region, aims to enhance the safety and protection of local residents. Chief Officer for Decentralized Unit, Stephen Salee, and Chief Officer for Transport, Peter Musya, officiated the site handover to the contractor earlier today, marking the commencement of the site clearing process.

CO Salee highlighted that the construction of police stations in Mandongoi (Ngomeni Ward) and Kona Kaliti (Mutha) has been completed. Additionally, ongoing projects in Imumba (Voo/Kyamatu) and Twambui (Endau/Malalani) are progressing well.

Nguni Member of County Assembly, Hon. Jeremiah Mutua, County Engineers, and security personnel were also in attendance during the site handover ceremony.

This initiative underscores Governor Malombe’s commitment to fulfilling his administration’s promise of enhancing security infrastructure in Kitui County.
