Kitui County Government Grants 100% Waiver on Land Rates Penalties

The County Government of Kitui, under the leadership of H.E. Governor Dr. Julius Malombe, EGH, has announced a 100% waiver on interest and penalties accrued from unpaid land rates. The waiver period runs until 30th June 2025, offering a rare opportunity for land and plot owners across the county to clear their arrears without incurring additional charges.

According to a public notice issued by the Ministry of Finance, Economic Planning, and Revenue Management, and the Ministry of lands & urban Development, the waiver applies only to landowners who settle their outstanding principal amounts in full during the waiver period.

Property owners are urged to visit the County Revenue Offices in Kitui or Mwingi Municipalities, depending on the location of their land, and present land ownership documents and the latest payment slips for assessment and billing.

The County Government has warned that enforcement measures will be taken against defaulters once the waiver window closes. Landowners are therefore encouraged to take advantage of this period and regularize their payments.

This move is part of the county’s efforts to enhance revenue collection while offering relief to citizens struggling with penalties from previous defaults.
