Kitui County Minister Honors Farmers and Advocates for Inclusive Growth in Agricultural Project Closure Meeting

On Saturday, May 4th, 2024, Dr. Stephen Mbaya Kimwele, the County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for Agriculture and Livestock, presided over the Closure Meeting of the National Agricultural and Rural Inclusive Growth Project (NARGIP) in Mwingi town.

In his address at the conclusion of the program, scheduled to end on June 30th, Dr. Kimwele lauded the farmers for their active participation and invaluable contributions to the project’s success, presenting them with certificates of appreciation.

He underscored the importance of farmer groups establishing Savings and Credit Cooperative Societies (SACCOS) to maximize benefits and encouraged them to conduct transparent and inclusive elections, ensuring representation from diverse demographics, including youth and Persons Living with Disabilities (PLWDs), while maintaining gender balance.

Dr. Kimwele reaffirmed Governor Dr. Julius Malombe’s commitment to promoting inclusivity and equity by ensuring the fair distribution of resources among all farmers’ groups across Kitui.
