Kitui East MP Nimrod Mbai Leads UDA Delegates Meeting, Endorsed for County Chairman

Kitui, 28th May 2024 – Kitui East Member of Parliament, Hon. Nimrod Mbai, convened a significant meeting with all United Democratic Alliance (UDA) 2022 aspirant candidates from 40 wards across Kitui County. The gathering aimed to evaluate the party’s performance in the 2022 general elections and devise strategies for future electoral success.

The meeting was attended by various elected and nominated Members of County Assembly (MCAs) including Hon. Joseph Musyoka (Nzambani Ward), Hon. Malinga Munyao (Zombe/Mwitika), Hon. Aron Kasele (Mutitu/Kaliku), and Hon. Paul Maluki (Kamutonga). Nominated MCAs Hon. Deborah Mutuku, Hon. Frida Maua, Hon. Ciamutura Karengi, and Hon. Gace Mwikali Sammy, alongside former Endau/Malalani MCA Grace Mwikali, were also present among other esteemed leaders.

During the meeting, the delegates reviewed their past performance and identified key areas for improvement. One of the crucial resolutions made was the decision that there will be no boardroom agreements for the selection of various positions in the forthcoming UDA grassroots elections. Instead, all candidates will be subjected to delegate voting.

Concerns were raised about the perceived isolation of Kitui County and the broader Ukambani region, despite having representation in the government. The delegates held the presidential appointees responsible for not prioritizing the interests of Ukambani’s residents. There was a strong call for these appointees to either step up or face petitions to the President for their replacement.

In a show of unity and confidence, the delegates unanimously endorsed Hon. Nimrod Mbai’s candidature for the position of County Chairman for the UDA Party in the upcoming grassroots elections. This endorsement is seen as a move to empower him to better advocate for the interests of the larger county electorate within the Kenya Kwanza Government.

The meeting concluded with a reinforced commitment to enhancing the party’s grassroots engagement and ensuring that the voices of Kitui County residents are effectively represented at the national level.
