A growing movement among residents of Voo, Kyamatu, Ndulani, Sombe, and Mutito is calling on Kitui East MCA Hon. Zack Syengo to contest for the constituency’s parliamentary seat in the 2027 General Election. The residents believe Syengo’s leadership and track record at the county level make him a strong candidate to represent them in the National Assembly.
Currently, the seat is held by MP Nimrod Mbai, a popular and vocal leader known for his strong advocacy for youth and development initiatives in Kitui East. However, his supporters are now urging him to aim higher, suggesting that he should vie for a bigger county-level seat, such as the Kitui Senatorial position, in the next election cycle.
Mbai has earned a reputation as a “real fighter” and a champion of young people’s interests, with many crediting him for spearheading key development projects in the constituency. His influence continues to grow, and some political analysts believe he could play a crucial role in county leadership should he choose to run for a higher seat.
The push to have Hon. Zack Syengo step up to the parliamentary race signals a shifting political dynamic in Kitui East, as residents look to maintain strong representation while also positioning their leaders for greater influence at the county and national levels.
As the 2027 campaigns begin to take shape, it remains to be seen how both Syengo and Mbai will respond to these calls from their supporters. However, political observers predict a heated and strategic realignment in Kitui’s leadership as election season approaches.
