Kitui, June 12, 2024 — Kitui Governor Dr. Julius Malombe (EGH) welcomed the Cabinet Secretary for the Ministry of East African Community (EAC), Arid and Semi-Arid Lands, and Regional Development, Peninah Malonza, and her team for a courtesy call at his office boardroom.
The visit coincides with the dissemination of the Fourth Medium Term Plan (MTP IV) 2023-2027, a strategic initiative under the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation agenda aimed at fostering inclusive growth. This plan is spearheaded by the National Treasury and Economic Planning, specifically the State Department for Economic Planning.
The Cabinet Secretary is conducting a public sensitization exercise for the Fourth Medium Term Plan in both Taita Taveta and Kitui Counties. The sensitization exercise aims to engage various stakeholders, including government officials, NGOs, community leaders, and the public. The discussions focus on proposed programs and projects tailored to the specific needs of the counties for implementation during the 2023-2027 planning period.
The Kitui forum took place at the Kenya Forestry Research Institute (KEFRI) grounds, where CS Malonza addressed the participants. The event provided an opportunity for attendees to deliberate on the development strategies and initiatives outlined in the MTP IV, ensuring that the county’s unique challenges and opportunities are effectively addressed in the upcoming planning period.
