Kitui Governor MALOMBE Hosts World Vision Kenya to Discuss Water & Sanitation Projects in Remote Areas

Kitui Governor Dr. Julius Malombe hosted World Vision Kenya officials for a courtesy call at his office boardroom.The meeting discussed the partnership between the County Government of Kitui and World Vision Kenya particularly focusing on transformative projects aimed at augmenting water provision in remote areas of Kitui South and Kitui East Sub-Counties

Led by Kitui County’s Manager, Gibson Kimani, the World Vision team provided a comprehensive update to the County Chief on the progress of the flagship Kangu Kangu water project in Kitui South Sub-County, which is expected to serve over 120,000 people in the region once commissioned.

Mr. Kimani also highlighted other collaborative programs with the County Government, with a spotlight on initiatives geared towards enhancing sanitation and hygiene standards in Mutomo, Lower Yatta and Mutito-Endau areas.

“World Vision has also been partnering with other development partners to implement interventions in household resilience strengthening through saving for transformation, cash transfer, nutrition, and climate-smart agriculture, among others,” added Mr. Kimani.

On his part, Governor Malombe acknowledged the longstanding partnership between his administration and the World Vision Kenya terming it invaluable in transforming the livelihoods of Kitui residents.

“I am immensely pleased with the progress we have made for the people of Kitui through our collaboration with World Vision. I am confident that together, we will spearhead more life-changing initiatives in the coming years for the betterment of Kitui communities,” he noted.

Water and Irrigation CECM Peter Nkunda and Water Chief Officer Nathan Vungo were also in attendance among other senior County Government officers.
