The County Assemblies Forum (CAF) has convened a Special General Assembly set to take place tomorrow, February 19, 2025, at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC). The event, bringing together representatives from all 47 county assemblies, aims to assess the progress and challenges of devolution over the past 14 years.
Speaking ahead of the meeting, Yatta Kwa Vonza MCA Hon. Mark Nding’o expressed concerns over the effectiveness of devolution, citing the lack of a development kitty for MCAs and inadequate welfare support.
“The County Assemblies’ Special Assembly will evaluate both achievements and challenges since devolution began. However, it has not met expectations, as MCAs are still struggling without a development kitty, and their welfare remains a major concern,” Nding’o told TCD Digital.
The three-day event, running until Friday, will provide a platform for MCAs to deliberate on key governance and legislative issues affecting counties.
