By TCD digital .The Kitui Municipality Board has issued a public notice to livestock owners, warning them against allowing their animals to roam freely within Kitui Town. The notice comes in response to increasing cases of injuries, property damage, and environmental hazards caused by loitering livestock, including cattle, sheep, and goats.
In the statement released today, the board has given livestock owners a 14-day deadline to remove their animals from public spaces. Failure to comply will result in enforcement actions, including the impounding of stray livestock as per existing laws. Additionally, during this period, livestock owners will be held fully responsible for any injuries or damage caused by their animals.
The municipality board emphasized that the move aims to enhance public health, safety, and environmental cleanliness in Kitui Town. Residents and business owners have welcomed the notice, citing frequent disruptions and destruction caused by roaming animals in the town’s streets.
Authorities have urged livestock owners to take immediate action to avoid penalties, warning that strict enforcement will follow once the notice period expires.
