Kitui to Receive Ksh 11.5B in 2025/26 Allocation, Plus Potential Ksh 646M from Equalization Fund

Kitui County is set to receive Kshs 11.5 billion in the 2025/26 Financial Year from the Equitable Share, following Senate’s approval of the Fourth Basis/Formula, which awarded the county an additional Kshs 618 million.

Kitui is also expected to get a further Kshs 646 million from the Equalization Fund—pending parliamentary approval of the appropriation bill. Commissioner Muasya has revealed.

Commissioner Muasya, who is a Commissioner at the Commission on Revenue Allocation, a constitutional commission whose primary mandate is the equitable sharing of national revenue between the national government and the subnational governments(counties) and also the identification of marginalized areas in the country for purposes of the Equalization fund, said this while attending the burial of Mr. Muthui, father to MC Mshamba in Miambani Ward in Kitui County

He urged both the executive and the legislature of Kitui county to exercise fiscal responsibility in the utilization of these funds to ensure equitable development in the county. He further pointed out that the the law on marginalization as per the constitution has a sunset close and will come seize to exist after the next seven years.

Counties should thus be deliberate in planning and utilization of their share of revenue going forward to ensure those areas within the counties left behind in development are deliberately adquately resourced to ensure balanced development.
