In a stirring statement, Hon. Dr. Augustus Kyalo Muli, the leader of the National Liberal Party, praised the resilience and dedication of Generation Z in their protests against the 2024 Finance Bill. He commended their unwavering commitment to fighting for economic justice and transparency.
The recent nationwide protests saw young citizens united in their demand for a fair and just financial future. Dr. Muli emphasized the critical role of youth in shaping the country’s direction, highlighting that their participation signifies a refusal to be silent in the face of policies that threaten the well-being of ordinary Kenyans.
Dr. Muli also extended his gratitude to the 115 Members of Parliament who supported the protests. He lauded their solidarity with ordinary citizens, emphasizing their dedication to democracy and fairness. These MPs, he noted, prioritized their constituents’ needs and voices over partisan interests.
However, Dr. Muli reminded the public that the fight is not over. As the Finance Bill faces further scrutiny in the Committee and the third reading in Parliament, he urged continued opposition. He called on all who have raised their voices to persist in their efforts, stressing the importance of maintaining pressure on representatives.
“Our collective strength lies in our unity and perseverance,” Dr. Muli stated, encouraging the public to remain steadfast in their commitment to a more equitable financial framework. He expressed confidence that together, the people can ensure their voices are not overshadowed by the interests of the few.
