Teachers in Matinyani Sub-County have called for the immediate transfer of the area Education Officer, accusing him of mismanaging funds meant for school games and frustrating their efforts.
Speaking in Mwingi during the ongoing school games, Kitui KNUT Secretary General Simon Ndingo led the teachers in demanding action, alleging that the officer had failed to facilitate the event as per the Ministry of Education’s approved budget.
He further accused the officer of embezzling funds allocated for drama competitions.The teachers expressed their frustration, stating that the officer’s actions were affecting the smooth running of co-curricular activities.
They urged the Ministry of Education to intervene and replace him with a more accountable official.
As the controversy unfolds, education stakeholders in Kitui County are closely watching how the ministry will respond to the teachers’ demands.
