Residents of Kwavonza are set to benefit from improved water supply following the official site handover for the construction of a sump well at Mwitasyano River.
The project, funded by the County Government of Kitui under the leadership of Governor Dr. Julius Malombe, is expected to ease water challenges in the fast-growing town.
The handover ceremony was led by Yatta Kwa Vonza Member of the County Assembly (MCA), who emphasized the importance of the project in addressing water scarcity in the region. The sump well, once complete, will play a crucial role in boosting water availability for domestic and commercial use.
Speaking during the event, the MCA urged the contractor to ensure timely completion of the project while adhering to high-quality standards. Residents and local leaders welcomed the initiative, expressing optimism that it will enhance access to clean and reliable water, a key factor in the town’s development.
This project aligns with Governor Malombe’s broader agenda of improving water infrastructure across Kitui County. With Kwavonza town experiencing rapid growth, investments in essential services like water supply are seen as critical for sustaining economic and social progress.
Construction is expected to commence immediately, with stakeholders closely monitoring progress to ensure the project delivers its intended benefits to the community.
