The Ministry of Lands, Housing, and Urban Development today held a successful land clinic in Mbitini Ward, Kitui Rural Subcounty, offering much-needed land services directly to the community.
Led by County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for Lands, Fredrick Kimanga, the outreach initiative aimed at resolving long-standing land-related challenges that have hindered development in rural areas. The clinic addressed a range of issues including title deed processing, boundary disputes, land transfers, succession matters, and land subdivision inquiries.
Speaking at the event, CECM Kimanga emphasized the ministry’s dedication to decentralizing services and empowering communities through secure land ownership.
“Land is central to economic empowerment. By bringing services to the grassroots and transitioning to a Lands Information Management System, we are modernizing our processes to ensure every resident can secure and utilize their land effectively,” Kimanga said.
Residents welcomed the initiative, noting that it was especially beneficial to the elderly and others who face difficulties accessing county offices. Many expressed appreciation for the personalized assistance offered at the clinic.

Other officers present included Assistant Director for Lands, James Akoyo; County Lands Administrator, Dennis Kitonga; and Kitui Rural Subcounty Senior Resident Planner, Mathew Karanja.
The Ministry has announced plans to roll out similar land clinics across the county in the coming weeks, as part of its broader mission to promote land tenure security, inclusivity, and sustainable rural development.
