Mwingi West Member of Parliament, Hon. Charles Nguna (CNN), reaffirmed his political dominance during the burial of the Kariobangi north MCA, Hon. Joel, held on Friday in Mwingi West.
The event, which drew thousands of mourners and political leaders, turned into a show of strength for the area MP. Despite reports that a group dubbed “Team Musyi FM” had planned to embarrass the legislator, the mood shifted dramatically when Hon. Nguna rose to address the crowd. The audience erupted in loud cheers, chanting his name in a clear show of support that overwhelmed his critics.
Nguna used the platform to call for unity and reaffirmed his commitment to serving the people of Mwingi West. His commanding presence and the thunderous welcome he received appeared to silence political detractors who had sought to discredit him.
Adding to the political significance of the event, Nairobi County Assembly Speaker Kennedy Ngondi, who also spoke at the ceremony, praised MP Nguna and likened his political journey to that of Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka . He referred to Nguna as Kalonzo’s “political son,” saying he is being groomed for greater leadership.
The dramatic scenes at the burial served as a testament to Nguna’s solid grassroots support and further highlighted the ongoing political realignments within Kitui County.
