Kitui South Member of Parliament Hon. Dr. Rachael Kaki Nyamai on Saturday hosted Principal Secretary for Livestock Development, Jonathan Mueke, as part of an ongoing livestock restocking initiative in the region.
During the event, Dr. Nyamai reaffirmed her commitment to improving local livelihoods through sustainable agricultural support programs. The latest phase of the initiative will see 100 households benefit from the distribution of 500 goats, a major boost to families affected by past droughts and economic hardship.
“We continued with the Livestock Restocking Program in the constituency where 100 households are set to benefit from 500 goats,” Hon. Nyamai announced.
PS Mueke emphasized the program’s alignment with President William Ruto’s Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA), noting that the restocking effort is a practical step toward revitalizing rural economies.
“We continued enhancing livelihoods through the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda,” said the PS, lauding the partnership with local leaders in delivering impactful change to the grassroots.
The restocking program is part of a broader strategy by the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development to rebuild pastoral assets, improve food security, and uplift vulnerable communities across arid and semi-arid regions like Kitui South.
