Kitui East MP Nimrod Mbai has thrown down the gauntlet to the Wiper Party leadership, daring them to hold political rallies in Sombe Market or Mutito. Mbai’s challenge follows his own allegation that Wiper Party leaders Kalonzo Musyoka and Kiema Kilonzo signed a controversial coal mining agreement in the Mui Basin, which Mbai claims amounts to “selling Kitui East people to Chinese Exim Bank.”
Mbai, speaking passionately about the issue, on the Biggest County social media flat form, (KPC) he stated, “Kalonzo and Kiema Kilonzo signed for coal mining in the Mui Basin (Block ABCD). Ndithakisya mwana ni mwooii. They will try all means to get a Wiper MP in Kitui East ndio waleta machina lakini haitawezekana. They both don’t come from the Mui Basin, how do they sell our people?”
The MP further challenged Kalonzo Musyoka, the Wiper Party leader, to hold a rally in Kitui East, specifically in Zombe or Mutito. “I dare Kalonzo to do a Wiper rally in Zombe or Mutito. Alafu tupatane hapa hio njioni. Malalani was just a baby playing with his grandfather’s balls,” he taunted, using a local saying to emphasize his point.
Mbai’s fiery rhetoric underscores the deepening political rift in Kitui East, as he aims to demonstrate the local opposition to the Wiper Party’s actions and decisions. “I want the Wiper big boys to understand what is Mbaya Mbaya,” he concluded, signaling a readiness for a heated political battle in the region.
The controversy centers around the coal mining project in the Mui Basin, which has been a contentious issue among local communities concerned about the environmental and social impacts. Mbai’s stance reflects a broader resistance to the project and a call for greater local consultation and involvement in such significant decisions.
He further called for the people to respect Kalonzo Musyoka as the region kingpin.
