National Liberal Party Leader Dr. Kyalo Muli Dismisses Wamunyoro Opposition Meeting as “Hyenas Circling a Wounded Lion”

National Liberal Party leader Dr. Kyalo Muli has launched a scathing attack on opposition figures who gathered at the recent Wamunyoro meeting, describing them as “opportunists” capitalizing on the country’s current political crisis without offering real solutions.

In a strongly worded statement, Dr. Muli acknowledged the symbolic show of unity at the gathering but dismissed it as hollow, saying the same faces present have long been part of the problem, not the solution.

“We were treated to a great show of unity of opposition leaders and their huge followers in Wamunyoro. Listening to them, one might believe we have finally seen the light,” he said. “But a closer look at all those faces tells us something different. They are not people who care about this country.

They are just opportunists who have seen a chance and are doing everything they can to exploit it.”Comparing them to scavengers, Dr. Muli accused the opposition leaders of waiting for President William Ruto’s administration to falter so they could take advantage.

“They are like hyenas who wait for a lion to wound an animal and in the struggle the hyena grabs a leg and runs with it. But they will still remain hyenas,” he remarked. He credited Kenya’s Gen Z youth with igniting the resistance against President Ruto’s administration, particularly referencing last year’s mass protests against the controversial Finance Bill. “The real lion are the Gen Z and the young people of this country,” Dr. Muli said. “They struck the blow to William Ruto last year, but the old and tired politicians now want to come and claim the prize.”He challenged the opposition figures to explain their track records rather than capitalizing on the current public frustration.

“Before they come and claim they are the ones to change this country, let them stand up and say what each of them has done for their people in all the time they’ve been in power.”With the country facing economic hardship, Dr. Muli said Kenyans are tired of rhetoric and called for practical solutions.

“Don’t tell us that Ruto must go in 2027. Tell us how people will have food on the table today. Tell us how our children will go to school today. Tell us how our parents will get medical care now,” he said.

He concluded by urging the political class to step aside if they cannot deliver, calling for new leadership and fresh ideas to steer the country toward a better future.
