After a period of political tension and uncertainty, normalcy has returned to the Machakos County Assembly as Speaker Anne Kiusya resumed her official duties by chairing a plenary sitting on Thursday.
In a session marked by unity and renewed legislative focus, Members of the County Assembly (MCAs) unanimously approved an amended House Calendar and adopted a motion to reorganize committee membership. The changes involved the discharge and replacement of several members across various House committees.
During the same session, Minority Leader Hon. tabled several critical documents, among them the Machakos County Budget Estimates for the 2025/2026 Financial Year, the Second Supplementary Budget for the FY 2024/2025, departmental performance reports, and the Annual Report from the County Public Service Board.
Speaker Kiusya committed all tabled documents to the relevant House Committees for further scrutiny and deliberation.
The Assembly adjourned thereafter and is scheduled to resume its sittings on Tuesday, 24th June 2025, at 10:00 a.m.
The orderly proceedings signal a welcome return to legislative business in Machakos, with leaders expected to focus on key policy and development matters as the county prepares for the new financial year.
