Tensions are rising in Machakos as a group of bloggers led by popular content creator MC Keke have come out publicly to accuse Governor Wavinya Ndeti of neglect and human exploitation.
In a heated recorded Audio that has since gone viral on social media, MC Keke alleged that the county government is misusing young, needy bloggers who have been defending the administration online without receiving any allowances or support.
“These bloggers are struggling. Some can’t even afford a basic smartphone worth Ksh 30,000,” said Keke. “They’re forced to use Mkopa phones to defend a government that has completely sidelined them.”
The bloggers, many of whom have been vocal supporters of Governor Ndeti, claim they have not been paid for months and are finding it difficult to sustain themselves — with some unable to afford data bundles or meet basic living expenses.
Frustrated and feeling betrayed, the group has vowed to withdraw their support for the governor and instead back any leader who is willing to support their work financially — including Governor Ndeti’s political rivals.
The protest marks a significant shift in the county’s political dynamics as the governor faces mounting pressure not just from political opponents, but now from her own former supporters.
Attempts to reach the governor’s office for comment were unsuccessful by the time of publishing.
