The Principal Secretary for Livestock Development, Hon. Jonathan Mueke, this morning appeared before the Public Audit Committee (PAC) of the National Assembly to respond to queries raised in the Report of the Auditor General on the Financial Statements for the financial year ending 30th June 2023.
The session, chaired by Hon. Tindi Mwale, provided an opportunity for the State Department for Livestock Development to clarify issues and demonstrate accountability in the management of public resources.
In his remarks, PS Mueke reaffirmed the department’s commitment to transparency and accountability, stating: “I reaffirmed the State Department for Livestock Development’s commitment to upholding good governance, transparency, and accountability in the utilisation of public resources as we continue to deliver on our mandate to the Kenyan people.”
The committee engaged the PS and his team on various audit findings and sought assurances on steps being taken to address any highlighted concerns. Hon. Mwale emphasized the importance of adhering to financial regulations and maintaining integrity in public service.
The appearance is part of ongoing oversight efforts by Parliament to ensure prudent use of public funds across all government departments.
