Deputy President Prof. Kithure Kindiki has broken his silence following remarks by Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka, who recently stated he has no intention of working politically with the Deputy President.
In a measured response, Kindiki acknowledged Kalonzo’s position, saying, “I hear my big brother Kalonzo Musyoka has said he doesn’t wish to work with me politically. That is fine with me.”
The Deputy President, however, cautioned against continued public attacks, stating that while he has chosen not to respond to “unkind” comments, his silence should not be mistaken for weakness.
“For the unkind things he has said about me, I won’t answer him back publicly, not because I can’t, but because I never do public duels with people I respect,” Kindiki said. “Nevertheless, if he continues with his falsehoods unprovoked, I will happily tackle him head on.”
The Deputy President emphasized mutual respect in politics, calling it “a two-way street,” while reaffirming his long-standing cordial relationship with the Wiper leader.“For now, Kalonzo will remain the good big brother I have known for decades,” he added.
Kindiki also reiterated the government’s commitment to development, asserting that service delivery would not be derailed by political alignments.
“The Government’s development agenda for all the people of this nation will continue undeterred, irrespective of who is working with who for whatever objective,” he stated. The exchange comes amid intensifying political rhetoric ahead of the 2027 general elections, as leaders begin to draw lines on alliances and future formations.
